Three Minutes at Three O’Clock
What are you doing at three o-clock today?
Me, I’m with whoever shows up to my Facebook Live meditation. (Three minutes at three o’clock.)
This started out as a light-hearted experiment. I thought it might help keep me engaged with my own practice, if for only three minutes a day. The thinking was if I had to show up for you, then I would do it for sure.
It goes like this: At (or near) three o-clock (Eastern time), I hop onto Facebook Live and lead a three minute meditation. Sometimes guided. Sometimes with just a very few words and stillness.
I’ve been fumbling my way through. My punctuality has left something to be desired. And there have been days I forgot about it completely. But now, it’s become a habit, and it’s my anchor. It’s my axis for the day. This tiny moment of connection in the afternoon has become sacred.
For me and for everyone who joins me — we get to feed the social media realm with silence, mindfulness, and kindness. And we do it in that vast casino that is the internet, a virtual place that brings us together — whoever from wherever, from whenever— and suddenly we are not only being quiet together, but delivering that quiet to the world.
