My 96-year-old mother-in-law just died in April of this year (2022). And while ours was a completely different story (we were able to keep her at home with round the clock, under the table, care--and our caretakers were great) the soul-crushing difficulty of our parents becoming our children is impossible to describe. Especially when the dementia gets bad and they're screaming all night, "Let's GO! Come on, let's GO!"
