My 96-year-old mother-in-law just died in April of this year (2022). And while ours was a completely different story (we were able to keep her at home with round the clock, under the table, care--and our caretakers were great) the soul-crushing difficulty of our parents becoming our children is impossible to describe. Especially when the dementia gets bad and they're screaming all night, "Let's GO! Come on, let's GO!"

Thank you for this very practical advice. My wife and I have long term care insurance that we've been paying through the nose for. I'm going to reread the whole thing, just to be sure what's what, now. Because of your great piece. Thank you.
